Tocak - 1 HEPP

It is located in the Kumluca district of Antalya . Tocak HEPP Project is the operation of Alakır Dam as a HEPP on Alakır Stream.

Tocak 1 HEPP project was prepared under the provisions of the Water Use Right Agreement Regulation issued by the DSİ (State Hydraulic Works) and the Energy Market Law No. 4628.

A electricity generation license is granted to YURT Enerji Üretim San. ve Tic. A.Ş. for 49 years as of 17.08.2007 in Tocak HEPP with the Water Use Right Agreement dated 03.08.2007 with General Directorate of DSİ and the Generation License dated 17.08.2007 and numbered EÜ/1280-2/919. The construction of the plant commenced on 17.08.2007 was completed on 20.03.2009. The provisional acceptance of the plant was made by the committee appointed by the MENR on 08.05.2009.

Alakır Dam, built on Alakır Stream, was prepared in 1966 by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works Dams and Hydroelectric Power Plants Office for flood protection. The construction of the plants commenced in 1967 and was completed in 1971 and then put into operation. As the capacity to hold water is not known because the dam is located on the carstic limestones, it is stated in the planning to protect the 2000 hectares of agricultural land from flood; and then irrigation is initiated by watering from sluice. Thus, the area of net 3405 hectares has become available for irrigation.

It is thought that a water intake structure, penstock and hydroelectric power plant shall be constructed for the current structures to utilize the energy potential of the water in the Alakır Dam discharged with shaft spillway and used for irrigation with sluice. In this case, installed power of the plant reaches to 4.76 MW and the energy generated becomes 14.930 GWh. With its structure of water intake minimum at 120.50 level and its transportation from crests at 143.50 m, sufficient water is discharged with penstock and reduced to level of 96.66, thus generating 14.93 GWh annual electrical energy with an installed power of 4.76 MW. Geppert turbines made in Austria are used.

Another important consideration in the project is that the dam's maximum operating level rose from 124.40 to 138.50, giving the irrigation areas more regular and continuous water supply for 12 months. After the project was completed, the active volume increased from 34.042 hm3 to 72.15 hm3. This increase in volume has relieved the Irrigation Unions, eliminating the need for the underground drilling to be carried out during periods when water was not available in the dam in the previous years.
